I am 39, and I've just begun to learn an important lesson about life; The key to taming my tongue is self control. Without it I can't help myself or my family. Since I'm the emotional leader of my family, (when Mom is upset everyone else is too), I have to be able to learn to deal with upsetting problems in the right way, by stopping what I'm doing immediately and praying for the Holy Spirit to come in and comfort me and guide me, or step away for a minute and go to a quiet place to pray and calm down to get an answer.
The test of love comes when I have had a tough day, or I'm really tired and everyone needs something. Once I feel overwhelmed I can't seem to control myself, so going to a quiet place before that happens is key to conquering it. I want to bring healing and life to my family with my speech, not chaos and destruction, (our words can really hurt when we are angry and say things we don't mean, and it is hard to take it back). I'm just so thankful that we can be forgiven and that God helps me forgive myself, so I can put the pain in the past and move forward with love and healing.
Be careful not to speak negative things over your kids or family, because your words are more powerful than you know. Speaking positive blessings over our lives and being filled with the Holy Spirit allows us to have self control; helps us produce fruit, and fills our lives with joy, love, victory and abundance. As a believer in Christ and what he did for us, I want to develop and exercise self control through daily dependence on Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, because our God is bigger and stronger than anything that tries to get in the way of doing the work He has planned for us. I can lay my troubles and burdens at His feet and He comes in like a fresh breeze and lifts me up out of my oppression and depression. It's when I turn to the world for answers that I fail, and that makes everything worse, because then I have guilt to deal with, and that is very destructive. We can break free of the chains and rise above life's challenges, by remembering that everything used in a righteous way serves a good purpose, and that when we make mistakes we can be forgiven if we ask. I am so thankful for Him allowing me to have a second chance (well many second chances) and for the blessings of life this day. Praise be to our Father in heaven and for the gift of His Son and the Holy Spirit.
Say this prayer with me today if you want to change your life and receive all the gifts of life He has for us...
Dear, Father in Heaven, Holy be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power forever...
Forgive me this day for my sins, from this day forward I surrender it all to you, let your Holy Spirit come in and make me whole. Help me stop and think about what I'm saying and doing, and remember to turn to you when things seem out of control. Thank you for your healing and blessings this day, in Jesus' name, amen!
There is no greater love, than the love of those who lay their life down for another. May you be blessed with an uplifted spirit this day, and everyday, and may the love of Christ fill up your life so much that it is an overflowing spring of love and joy.
